Face behind the name
I have always had a love for science, dating back to my teenage years. But it has never just been about the science; I’ve always loved communicating it. Drawing it. Organizing it. Making it accessible to everyone and easier to remember. Dig through old boxes in my parents’ basement and you’ll find illustrated study guides on just about everything I was learning (even for books I read in English class). My brain works in infographics and now I put them here on the internet.
That same instinct for finding the pattern and building the system is what's driven my industry work toward roles that build infrastructure to optimize ways of working and better connect results to decisions. In practice, that’s meant building tools, dashboards, and automated workflows (sometimes utilizing AI) to make data more accessible, project status and responsibility more visible, and knowledge management more standardized.
My communication style is also heavily influenced by years on debate team — the nuance of building an argument, recognizing bias, and holding a position while still respecting someone else's. That shows up in how I write and speak just as much as the science does.
Experience behind the name
I studied Biomedical Engineering at the University of Utah (Salt Lake City) and went on to get a PhD in Bioengineering at Rice University (Houston). My undergraduate work was more medtech-focused — including some early hands-on healthcare experience working part-time with the artificial heart and LVAD department and, separately, designing two medical devices. My doctorate research, by contrast, was very biotech in nature and focused heavily on gene therapy, virology, and protein engineering. Since obtaining my PhD I have worked at a BioPharma company developing advanced biologic therapeutics and have experience in Analytical Development, CMC Regulation, and workflow architecture.
